Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist, best known as the founder, CEO, and former chairman of Amazon.com, one of the world's largest online retailers.

Early Life and Education:

Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Jacklyn and Ted Jorgensen. His mother was just 17 years old when she gave birth to him, and his father was a bike shop owner. When Jeff was four years old, his parents divorced, and his mother remarried a Cuban immigrant named Miguel Bezos, who legally adopted Jeff and gave him his last name. Bezos graduated from Princeton University in 1986 with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science.

Career:

After graduation, Bezos worked for several companies, including Fitel, Bankers Trust, and D. E. Shaw & Co. It was at D. E. Shaw where Bezos became interested in the internet and its potential for commerce. In 1994, he left his job at D. E. Shaw to start Amazon.com, an online bookstore. He raised $1 million from friends and family and started the company in his garage in Seattle.

Initially, Bezos and his team focused solely on selling books, but they quickly expanded into other areas, such as music, electronics, and toys. Over time, Amazon became the world's largest online retailer, offering a wide range of products and services, including cloud computing, streaming media, and artificial intelligence.

In addition to Amazon, Bezos has also invested in a number of other companies, including Twitter, Uber, and Airbnb, through his venture capital firm, Bezos Expeditions. He also founded Blue Origin, a space exploration company, in 2000, with the goal of making space travel more accessible and affordable.

Personal Life:

Bezos has been married three times. He was married to his high school sweetheart, MacKenzie Scott, from 1993 to 2019, and they have four children together. In 2019, Bezos announced that he and his wife were getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage, and it was revealed that he had been having an affair with a former news anchor, Lauren Sanchez. Bezos and Sanchez are currently in a relationship.

Philanthropy:

Bezos is also known for his philanthropy. In 2018, he announced the creation of the Bezos Day One Fund, a $2 billion fund aimed at helping homeless families and creating preschools in low-income communities. He has also donated millions to various charitable organizations, including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Museum of History and Industry, and the Smithsonian Institution.
